Women in Buckie will be able to undergo breast cancer checks in the town for a three-month spell from next week.
Staff at the North East Scotland Mobile Breast Screening Unit will carry out pre-emptive examinations at Seafield Hospital, on Barnhill Road, from Monday.
Manager for the service, Elspeth Hay, said: “The aim of the programme is to detect breast changes at an early stage when treatment has the best chance of being successful.
“We hope that women invited for the first time will take advantage of their invitation for mammography and, for women who have been screened previously, it is important to attend to ensure that there have been no changes over the past three years.
“The risk of developing breast cancer increases as you get older, so if any woman missed or failed to attend their previous invitation, it is still important to come along for screening this time.”
Women aged between 50 and 70, who are registered with a GP at Seafield and Cullen Medical Group and Ardach Health Centre, will soon be invited to attend via a written letter.
Although women older than 71 will not be sent an invitation, they are encouraged to contact the screening centre on 01224 550570 to request an appointment.
There are around 55,200 new breast cancer cases in the UK every year, which means that 150 women are diagnosed with the condition every day on average.
