Watchdogs have started an investigation into a Moray crash which left six people hurt – two of them seriously – after a police chase.
A spokesman for the Police Investigations And Review Commissioner (PIRC) said an inquiry is now underway into “the actions of police officers” in the lead-up to the collision on the A98 Fochabers to Banff road on Boxing Day.
A man and a woman were both seriously injured after the two-car crash at Rannachy, near Buckie, on the afternoon of December 26.
Police arrested a 28-year-old man following the incident, pending further inquiries.
Last night a spokesman for the watchdog said: “The incident was referred to us by Police Scotland and once concluded, an investigation report will be sent to the Chief Constable.”
