Pupils at primary and secondary schools in Moray were sent home today after a fault caused the buildings to lose power.
The local authority said Keith Grammar and Keith Primary were closed at lunchtime due to the incident.
A spokeswoman for Scottish and Southern Electricity Network said a mobile generator was dispatched as a precautionary measure but they were about to restore power soon after.
She added: ““We would like to apologise for any disruption to the school day today as a result of today’s power cut. Our engineers worked safely and quickly to restore power and we able to get the power back on in just over an hour.”
A Moray Council spokeswoman said the school is expected re-open tomorrow.
