Parents and youngsters are to be told about the workplaces of the future during an event due to be held in Moray.

Skills Development Scotland, Moray College UHI, Moray Council’s education department and local employers will be at the event aimed at youngsters making career choices.

DYW Moray is hosting the event this week and hope to arm students with expectations about the future so they can best prepare themselves.

Sarah Baxter, manager of the service, said: “The focus for this event is about jobs of the future and educating young people and their parents on how workplaces will look in two, five, 10 and 20 years time.

“Our workplaces are changing for many reasons, advancements in technology being one of them, and it’s really important that we engage with employers so they can share with young people the skills, values and qualifications they will be looking for.”

Presentations will also be given at the event due to be held at Elgin’s Mansefield Hotel on Thursday from 5pm.

Karen Lees, an education manager at Moray Council, added: “We are constantly reviewing our curriculum in schools and ensuring that we provide a wide range of opportunities within and outside the classroom for our children and young people to develop skills for life.

“We are looking forward to providing an overview of what this looks like in Moray and how we benefit from a range of approaches to support our schools, pupils and parents.”
