A bus service is poised to return to a community in a Moray town for the first time in nearly three years.
Residents in the Forbeshill area of Forres have been without any public transport connections after Stagecoach pulled its route there in 2017.
Now it has been revealed that Moray Council’s electric bus will begin servicing the community on February 24.
The authority has been eager to expand its use of the vehicle after launching it on a Forres to Aberlour route last year.
The new service will run from the Forbeshill area, cover the town centre and run as far as the new dental surgery on Grantown road.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “Everyone knows that Forbeshill is a particularly steep area and elderly people living there found it challenging to negotiate the paths, especially in the winter.
“That’s why many were forced to pay for a taxi to get down into town for shopping, or to visit the health centre.”
Forres councillor Claire Feaver praised the work of Moray Council’s transport department.
She added: “This is something people have been asking for and will allow them to get into Forres or to the dentist without having to rely on someone taking them there, or paying for a taxi.”
