A Moray security firm is hosting a free training event to help teach members of the public how to react in an emergency situation.
Saltaire Security and Medics is bringing the workshop to Elgin next month with charity CitizenAID, which educates on deliberate attacks resulting in multiple casualties.
The course includes advice about basic first aid and also tips on what to do in the event of road accidents.
Steve Robertson, owner of Saltaire Security, said: “This is not about frightening people, but instead helping them to be ready should any type of emergency situation arise.
“To a degree, it feels as though we are sheltered from attacks here in Moray, which is seen to be a safe place to live, but you can never be over prepared and with many people travelling all over the world and to major cities where unfortunately deliberate attacks can be more common, it’s good to know what to do.”
Mike Robinson, operations manager of CitizenAID, added: “It is not designed to put fear into people, but to empower them if and when they find themselves in a situation which is stressful, unfamiliar and there are multiple injuries.
“What people attending the training will learn is basic first aid, but it will also cover a wide range of injuries, such as severe bleeding, crush injuries and shock, which takes it beyond the basics.”
The events will be held at Grampian Furnishers on March 15 and 16, from 8.30am to 12.30pm each day.
Places should be booked in advance by calling 07732 466243 or by e-mailing jorden.davies@saltairesecurity.com.
