Moray residents are being encouraged to look out for children and families at risk in the forthcoming weeks.
On Monday evening Prime Minister Boris Johnson put Britain on a total lockdown after efforts to get the coronavirus outbreak under control stalled.
Residents are now being asked to remain in their homes and only go outside for essential trips including buying shopping or medical supplies and for exercise once a day.
Moray Council is urging residents to keep an eye on vulnerable people in their communities.
A statement from the local authority said: “There is always concern for our most vulnerable children and families, even more so at this time when they could become increasingly isolated.
“Everyone within local communities is asked to be extra observant and play a part to keep children safe from harm during these unprecedented times.
“It’s better to say something than nothing. If you’ve seen something and have concerns about a child or children. If you have any concerns during the working day please contact 01343 554370 or e-mail childrensaccessteam@moray.gov.uk. If it is out of office hours please contact 03457 565656.”
