A Moray community is pulling together together amid the coronavirus crisis to provide people in need with food bags.
The Aberlour Community Association has been working in partnership with Moray Food Plus and the Macallan distillery to deliver the service.
Association chairman Bill Malcolm has been impressed with the spirit shown by all involved.
He said “I’m very appreciative and also delighted to receive so much positive feedback.
“The Macallan distillery has a local assistance scheme operating as some staff aren’t working and they have been making the journey to Elgin to collect the food and take it back to Aberlour.”
Mr Malcolm hopes to expand the foodbank operation to neighbouring communities.
He said: “I have contacted other local areas like Craigellachie, Archiestown and Dufftown about giving them food bags sourced from Moray Food Plus.
“It is great this has created a little network within the greater area of Speyside.”
Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire Andrew Simpson added: “The Aberlour Community Association are a fantastic example of how people have seen a need in their community, used their initiative and ingenuity to overcome obstacles, and have found ways to support others.”
People can contact the group on their Facebook page if they know anyone who would benefit from the service.
