Musical memories and nostalgic stories shared online with isolated residents has helped a Moray taxi driver raise more than £1,000 for charity.
Garey Stewart, from Elgin, began reaching out on social media after fearing older and vulnerable members of the community may be struggling with life during lockdown.
Songs sung by the former tradesman as well as tales of life in the area have been credited with lifting spirits.
But when Mr Stewart began receiving gifts to thank him for his efforts – he instead turned to raising money for charities instead.
Donations pledged by those who have had their hearts touched by the videos have now reached £1,400 to support Cancer Research UK.
Mr Stewart said: “I just wanted to do a bit to keep spirits high, I know a lot of people out there are struggling on their own without being able to go out or have people visit them.
“I’m not the best singer, I’m more about jokes and having a laugh.
“I’m feeling it too, I like being on the go and out on the road talking to people. I just want to help connect with other people while telling a few jokes at the same time.”
