It has been five weeks since any of us have been able to step foot in a gym – a fact not lost on The Moray Motivator.
And although Chantall Fowlie has been furloughed from her job at Moray Sports Centre in Elgin, she has refused to let her clients’ hard work in the gym stop just because they are at home.
The 42-year-old has launched free fitness classes from her home, which run Monday-Friday.
She said: “I wanted to give back to the ladies that have made my classes what they are today.
“When I first started working I was very nervous and I think we have grown alongside each other in confidence.
“We have all put in a lot of hard work, and just because we are locked in our homes doesn’t mean the work has to stop.”
The personal trainer has an array of programmes and classes for people to join, including gruelling HIIT routines and resistance training. She also sets her group a weekly challenge, such as being active for 75 minutes a day.
There is also healthy eating tips available on her private Facebook page, where followers can share their favourite recipes.
Mrs Fowlie urged anyone who fancies getting active during lockdown to get in touch and stressed the classes are not exclusive to those have previously attended one of her sessions at the sports centre.
The classes are broadcast live on the Moray Motivator Facebook page, but can also be watched back at a later date – which Mrs Fowlie felt was important for the key workers among her group, who may want to get active to switch off.
Mrs Fowlie said: “I have a couple of nurses in my fitness group and I know they have liked that they can come back to the workouts whenever they get time.
“One lady told me that they help get her dressed in the morning, and that is really what it is all about, keeping motivated at home.”
