A Moray pro golfer has raised more than £4,200 for a foodbank by holding a raffle offering fans the chance to play on 19 top courses.
Derek Ramsay, one of Moray Golf Club’s PGA professionals wanted to help Moray Food Plus support families throughout the coronavirus crisis.
He teamed up with local golf clubs to gather prizes of fourball vouchers for a raffle, with Royal Dornoch and Royal Aberdeen among the prizes up for grabs.
Moray Old, Moray New, Brora, Tain, Inverness Kings, Inverness GC, Forres, Hopeman, Elgin, Maverston, Rothes, Kemnay, Newmachar, Peterculter,Portlethen,Nairn Dunbar and Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club also took part.
Mr Ramsay hailed the “amazing generous” shown by people across the north in helping his fundraising efforts.
He added: “The fundraising has skyrocketed and we got a couple of grand in a few days which is brilliant.
“I really didn’t think we would raise £4,000 in a week.
“I’m chuffed that all the money will be used locally.
“The whole point of the fundraiser was to help the food bank and raise awareness about the good work of the charity.”
