Moray recycling centres will begin to open next week with precautions in place to maintain safe access.
It is hoped that alongside a booking system, a series of newly announced road closures and waiting prohibitions will alleviate any queuing issues and avoid a similar situation to the traffic jams in England when sites reopened.
The new road restrictions will be in place for eight months from Monday to January 31.
Chanonry Road South, Elgin, at its junction with Moycroft road will be closed while the west side of Balloch Road, Keith, will have a prohibition of waiting system in place.
A one-way system will be in place at Chanonry to prevent cars from backing up onto the A96 Aberdeeen to Inverness road and the system in Keith is also in place to maintain access to the fire station.
Moray Council will continue to monitor the systems after the sites open and will make changes if needed.
Around 2,500 slots will be available to book weekly starting on Monday for facilities in Elgin, Buckie, Forres and Keith.
Aberdeenshire Council will also have 12 centres open the same day and Peterhead will follow on June 8 when essential repairs have been completed.
Drop-offs will be restricted to bagged general waste, garden waste and electrical items.
