A Moray Boys’ Brigade company has launched a fundraiser to purchase awards and trophies.
James Allan, captain of the 4th Lossiemouth Company Boys’ Brigade is hopeful that a online ceremony can take place to celebrate the youngsters’ achievements.
The group, which like many others has lost its fundraising income due to coronavirus, is hoping to raise £1,500 to buy trophies and awards to give to the boys.
Mr Allan said: “Over the years the youngsters have always enjoyed a display night and getting all the badges and trophies.
“They pay £2 a week for the boys to come along and we have had fundraising events like coffee mornings cancelled due to coronavirus.
“Therefore most of our funds have gone towards to the Boys’ Brigade headquarters for membership and Moray Council for the Hythehill Primary School.”
During the lockdown, groups across the country have been taking their award evenings online.
He added: “A lot of Boys’ Brigades are doing virtual parents nights and sending out the badges and trophies for the parents to present.
“Hopefully we can host a virtual event as we usually have a huge display where the youngsters do performances that will not be happening this year.”
