The business improvement district in Moray’s biggest town has a new boss to take its projects forward.
Elgin BID has appointed Gemma Cruickshank to be its chief executive after what was said to have been a hotly contested recruitment effort.
Mrs Cruickshank has a vast amount of experience and impressed with her passion for the town centre and all the businesses within it.
In the past she has worked in the leisure and hospitality sectors, as well as with VisitScotland and VisitAberdeenshire.
She will take over from Gill Neill who stepped-down from the position last month after eight years of driving improvements in Elgin town centre.
Mrs Cruickshank will be taking up the new position on Monday, August 3.
Her predecessor said: “I am really thrilled that Gemma has accepted our offer to take up the position as manager with Elgin BID.
“The business community are under a lot of additional pressures at the moment and I am confident that we selected the right candidate for the post.”
Mrs Neill added: “We were really delighted with the quality of applications and the interview panel had a tough decision to make, but we know that Gemma will be a great asset to the BID members and a wonderful advocate for Elgin.
“As you know leaving BID was not a decision I made lightly and it has offered me a huge amount of reassurance that she is taking over.”
