A Moray war memorial which stands in honour of the RAF aces who soared into action from a historic airbase has been returned to its former glory.
The Dallachy war memorial statue, which stands at the side of the Fochabers to Spey Bay Road at Bogmoor, had fallen into disrepair in recent years and a revamp was due to be completed earlier this year.
However, the project was put on the back burner when the pandemic struck.
Once contractors were given the green light to resume, work quickly took place at the memorial which commemorates the four RAF squadrons based out of the former Dallachy airfield.
The station opened in 1943 as a training base for pilots preparing for combat, and its Beaufighters later mounted concentrated attacks on German vessels in the North Sea and along the Norwegian coast during the closing months of World War Two.
The airfield was closed in June 1945, becoming a Territorial Army training centre until 1958.
Lennox Community Council maintains the memorial and surrounding ground, and netted a £1,100 grant from the EB Scotland environment consultancy firm to fund the work.
Mosstodloch contractor Stan Makocki carried out the refurbishment, which included picking out old cement at base joints, cleaning the surface and repointing.
The community council’s treasurer, Pringle George, said: “Our member Mike Reid, who is in charge of repairs to the memorial, saw that there were repairs that needed to be carried out gradually over the years.
“So finally we took that on board last year and got estimations for the work.
“We thought it would get done earlier this year however this had to be delayed due to the pandemic.
“As soon as lockdown for contractors finished we got in touch with Stan to do the job.
“There will be more work this month like finishing the painting of the fence and fixing the bushes nearby.”
Mrs George added that there are talks ongoing about possibly getting a bench made for the site, and clearer signage to direct visitors to the war memorial.
