A community centre saved from closure by volunteers in Moray will be bought by the group.
The Three Kings Cullen Association has been running the building since September 2018 after Moray Council announced it would shut it unless somebody else took it over.
Yesterday councillors unanimously agreed to sell the building to the organisation for £35,000 after praising work done by volunteers to improve the facility while they have leased it.
Keith and Cullen councillor Theresa Coull explained the grounds were now a meeting place for many with a variety of activities run inside.
She said: “The group has worked extremely hard to provide a space for arts and crafts, badminton, a men’s shed and so much more.
“The jewel is the residential side, which provides all the facilities you would want for a group staying in Cullen. Ownership will allow them to go from strength to strength.”
The deal includes an agreement to lease the rooms used for Cullen Library within the building back to Moray Council for a nominal fee.
Reports prepared ahead of the yesterday’s council meeting valued the building at £205,000 and the land at up to £400,000 if used for housing.
Elgin City North councillor Frank Brown raised concerns about the level of discount offered to the group while stressing he supported sale in principal.
Council officer Andrew Gray explained the price had been calculated to take account of the 20-year lease to the council for the library.
