Police patrols have been stepped-up in a Moray town to address concerns about anti-social behaviour.
Officers and special constables visited areas of Forres where locals have expressed concerns about gatherings during the weekend.
Yesterday, police revealed that one young person will be reported in connection with two incidents of vandalism following the patrols, which ran from Friday to Sunday.
Meanwhile, two drivers were also spoken to about alleged anti-social driving offences and several “large groups” of youngsters were dispersed.
Advice was also given by officers about cycle safety.
Police say the aim of the patrols, which took in beauty spots, medical grounds and school grounds, were to provide community reassurance and enable positive discussions with youths.
Further patrols are expected to be run in the coming weeks to continue to address the concerns of some residents.
Inspector Kerry Rigg said: “I understand anti-social behaviour can impact widely on any community.
“This weekend our officers and special constables were able to engage positively with young people, educating them around how noise levels and inappropriate behaviour were impacting on the local residents, and encouraging them to consider their behaviour.
“These patrols are to continue over the coming weeks and we are keen to tackle issues affecting local residents.”
Residents with concerns should contact police by calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
