A public consultation is under way in Moray, focusing on how community councils operate.
The current scheme is in force until September next year and consultation on the scheme’s review happens over two stage, the first of which opened on Thursday and runs until November 19.
As part of the statutory review, community council boundaries, the framework by which they operate and electoral arrangements are all assessed.
The region currently has 20 community councils who aim to represent everyone in their area.
Feedback from the first round of consultation will inform any amendments to the draft scheme, which will then be subject to the next round of consultation in February 2021, before going to councillors for approval.
Once the scheme is approved, it will take effect from the date of the next community council elections which are scheduled for autumn 2021.
More information including how residents can comment is available on Moray Council’s website.
