A Moray hotel has embraced technology to encourage visitors to explore the region’s tourist attractions.
The Knockomie Inn, Forres, has been working with local tourism businesses, including Johnstons of Elgin, to replace leaflets for popular attractions with QR-code posters.
The family run business has also developed digital hotel information packs, smartphone-friendly menus and easy track and trace technology.
Hotel owner Gavin Ellis said: “As well as being better for the environment, posters with QR codes avoid any unnecessary cross-contact.”
The QR-code posters allow people with smartphones or other devices to point a camera at the coded image, which takes them to online information provided by the business.
Stewart Marshall, sales and operations manager at Johnstons of Elgin said that the digital step provides a “great opportunity”.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise’s Angie Smith was “delighted” to support the business in its efforts to support the vital tourism sector.
