Crowds are building at Piping Hot Forres, where more than 120 pipe bands are competing for prizes today.
Thousands of people are now enjoying bright skies at Grant Park following showers earlier in the day.
Organisers have predicted that more than 20,000 people will attend the event.
Bands from throughout the world are attending and many have been seen warming up ahead of competitions this afternoon.
As well as the skirl of the pipes, visitors are enjoying a host of other entertainment, including Highland dancers, a craft fair, a food and drink tent and fairground attractions.
At the grand finale tonight, the Grade 1 bands will perform Flower of Scotland, which was written by the late Roy Williamson, of the Corries, who lived in Forres.
