A serious two-car crash in Moray closed the A96 road between Elgin and Keith this morning.
There remains slow traffic and expected delays in both directions between the B9115 junction in Keith and the B9103 junction in Elgin, although one lane has now been opened.
Police are directing traffic but drivers are advised to avoid the route where possible.
A police spokesperson said: “What we’ve got is a two-vehicle crash just north of the B9115.
“A female is trapped in one of the vehicles and the road is blocked. Diversions are currently in place.
“Hopefully we will get the woman out in the next few minutes. She is conscious and breathing.”
A spokesperson from the fire service said: “We were called to the incident at 6.50am and we have got cutting gear in use to release a trapped person.
“Appliances from Huntly and Elgin are at the scene.”
