Around 4,000 people flocked to Grant Park in Forres at the weekend to enjoy the town’s 86th Highland Games.
The crowds basked in glorious sunshine to watch pipe bands, Highland dancing and the track, cycling and heavy events, as well as the tug o’ war.
Games president Fred Davidson said: “The day went well and we were lucky with the weather.
“Just a week after Piping Hot Forres it was great to see so many turn out.
“The support from local people has been marvellous and we had help from the 39 Engineer Regiment at Kinloss Barracks.
“Members took part in the 10k road race, they staged a bridge building competition and stayed behind after the event to help tidy the park.”
The day kicked off at 12.30pm after Forres pipe band and RAF Lossiemouth pipe band marched up the High Street from the Mercat Cross.
Competitors from as far afield as Belgium, Australia and France took part in the various sporting events.
New this year was the Viennenburg-Forres twin town trophy, which went to the best overall competitor from overseas. The winner was Will John, from Australia.
A regular face at the games was Neville Sillitoe, the Australian athletics coach, who has been bringing his young athletes to Forres for decades.
He was awarded an honorary life membership of the Forres Highland Games in 2008.
Games secretary Mike Scott’s wife Lena, who has been on the game’s administration board for 30 years, was this year’s chieftain.
Mrs Scott said: “It was a great honour and I felt extremely privileged to be the chieftain at such a good occasion.”
The winners of the tug o’ war competition were Great Glen from Drumnadrochit.
The Neil Campbell McGougan trophy was awarded to the best junior piper under 14 years of age, Dylan Finnie from Contin.
The Jimmy Wilson memorial trophy, also for piping, went to Amy McDonald from Forres.
Ciaran Wright from Falkirk Victoria Harriers came first in the junior heavy section overall result.
Bruce Robb from Pitreavie, Dunfermline, won the overall senior heavy event.
In the Highland dancing senior category, Natalie Moir from Elgin came second in Highland fling and sword dance.
In the 10k race, John Newsome, from Central AC in Stirling, came first with a time of 32.22 and Kyle Greig from Forres Harriers came second with a time of 32.42.
At the end of the day’s events, the massed pipe bands marched out of the park and onto Forres High Street.
