The North East breast screening programme returned to Elgin yesterday and will be situated in the Asda car park in Edgar Road until the end of October.
Women aged 50-70 who are registered with Linkwood Medical, Elgin Community Surgery or the Maryhill practices will be invited to attend over the coming weeks.
Older woman will not be sent an invitation, but are encouraged to make their own appointment by contacting the screening centre on 01224 550570.
Breast service manager Elspeth Hay said: “The aim of the programme is to detect breast changes at an early stage when treatment has the best chance of being successful.
“We hope that women will continue to take advantage of their invitation for mammography, as it is important to ensure that there have been no changes in breast tissue since their last appointment.
“The risk of getting breast cancer increases as you get older so, even if a previous appointment has been missed, it is still important to come along for screening this time.”
