Nearly 400 people in the bar and catering industry in Moray are at risk of losing the licences which allow them to sell alcohol.
New laws require that those who hold the personal licences are required to complete refresher training every five years.
Failure to do so will result in their licence being revoked with no opportunity to appeal.
In addition, it will not be possible to reapply for five years.
Despite the consequences, only 198 out of 596 licence holders in Moray have currently completed a recognised course.
Moray Licensing Board convener Councillor Ron Shepherd said: “I would urge anyone who needs training to make arrangements as soon as possible.
“Don’t leave it to the last minute or you could risk not being able to get on a course and losing your licence.
“If you do not undertake the training in time the board must revoke the personal licence.
“There is no leeway to accept late applications and, since revocation is mandatory, there is no appeal procedure.”
“If your personal licence is revoked you cannot apply for another licence for five years. So, for example, you will not be able to be a premises manager for all that time.”
Once the refresher training is successfully completed a copy of the training certificate should be sent to
Moray Council said that licence holders had to lodge paperwork proving they had completed a course by the end of November.
