A former RAF Lossiemouth search and rescue coordinator has been named as one of the 298 people killed in the Malaysian Airlines crash.
Stephen Anderson was on his way home to Malaysia when the plane was shot down.
The 44-year-old was working as a technician for Maersk Drilling after moving to Penang, Malaysia with his wife Joanna, 37, in 2010.
He previously spent 23 years working for the RAF, including a three-year posting at Lossiemouth, where he ran the day-to-day operation of the search and rescue team until 2008.
It is understood his daughter still lives in Moray.
The Daily Telegraph have reported Mr Anderson’s niece posted photos on a social networking site of him yesterday, writing: “Rest in Peace Uncle Steve. You didn’t deserve to die. No one on that flight did. I love you so much.”
