A Southampton man has taken on an arduous challenge to hike 6,600 miles around the British coast whilst surviving in the wild.
Adam Short, 41, set off from the city in March and has crossed beaches, climbed hills and navigated forests and moors.
He arrived in Lossiemouth yesterday and from there he will continue on to Dunnet Head in Caithness where he will be a third of the way round. The challenge will take eight months to complete.
During the course of the trek he has slept in a number of places including a horse box, derelict cave, and Draculas castle in Whitby.
He has also spotted numerous wildlife such as porpoises, puffins, dolphins, deer and a peregrine falcon.
His journey has not been without incident having fallen down three cliffs and managing to escape with just a few cuts and bruises.
Mr Short said: “So far I’ve faced a lot of obstacles and who knows what the next stage of the journey will throw at me.”
He is hoping to film a documentary series for airing after the challenge is complete to be shown at the Banff Mountain Film festival in 2015.
He was inspired to complete the challenge by John Merrill from London, who completed the challenge in eight months in 1970.
In 2012, Mr Short and his friend Joanne Peters walked across the Northern provinces of Spain to complete the famous Camino de Saniago.
Throughout the walk, Mr Short will be raising money for the RNLI and Save The Children.
