A woman in her sixties has had her handbag stolen in a “cowardly” mugging in Buckie.
Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses following the late-night theft in the town’s Brodie Avenue area.
A black handbag and its contents, which were valued at a low-three figure sum, were snatched at around 11pm on Wednesday.
The suspect is described as a man in his early twenties, about 5ft 6in and of medium build.
He was wearing a dark coloured sweatshirt with a hood pulled tight concealing most of his face.
Investigating officer Kevin Petrie said: “An elderly woman was the victim of a cowardly act in that a male stole her hand bag whilst she was walking home from work.
“Fortunately she was not injured however the incident has left her shaken.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
