Tickets for Findhorn Bay Arts Festival’s headline act have sold out – four weeks before the five-day gathering opens.
The fledgling event has mushroomed since an estimated 3,000 people overwhelmed the original one-day version last year.
A variety of artists – most with Moray connections – will feature at a number of venues, from Brodie Castle to Findhorn’s Universal Hall, between September 24-28.
The show by headliner Eddi Reader has already sold out, and interest in other acts including Charlie McKerron, Shooglenifty and instrumental duo Calum Stewart and Heikki Bourgault, is also going well, with more than 800 tickets sold in total.
As part of the Year of Homecoming 2014, Hopeman-raised Charlie McKerron will present Moray Music Makers – a special one-off concert of traditional music, spotlighting some of the finest local talent, including James Alexander of the Fochabers Fiddlers.
He said: “The north-east of Scotland has always been famed for its fine fiddlers and it will be good for the younger generation to see and hear some of the rich repertoire of music being played by these stalwarts.”
Festival director Kresanna Aigner said “It’s starting to get exciting now because ticket sales are beginning to build momentum.
“This is a festival with people and place at its heart, drawing inspiration from and celebrating the many traditions that still shape the lives of our coastal communities.
“The Moray Music Makers concert will be a one-off, with a line up featuring over 20 nationally and internationally renowned Moray musicians – it doesn’t get richer then this.”
