A Hollywood producer brought a touch of Tinseltown to Moray yesterday when he arrived for a series of engagements.

David Gest was in Lossiemouth promoting the new musical One Fond Kiss which he is staging alongside Diane Aspinall and Tish Tindall of the town’s Rock Academy.

And he has extended his stay in Scotland to take part in this weekend’s annual Logan’s fun day in memory of Logan Main who lost his fight against an aggressive childhood cancer aged just three.

Mr Gest will lead the symbolic balloon release in memory of Logan at the event which kicks off at noon tomorrow at Lossiemouth Playing Fields.

He said: “I wanted to do it because Logan died so young from cancer.

“I feel a real infinity with the people of Lossiemouth and this area and the fact that people are so wonderful.

“They’ve stopped me on the street to say hello and tell me their stories.

“It’s always great for me when I come to Scotland I love the Scottish people.”

Mr Gest added: “I love you and thank you for welcoming me to this wonderful place. I will always have a special place in my heart for Scotland.”

Tish sang at Logan’s funeral and will be performing a special arrangement of the Robert Burns song Ae Fond Kiss tomorrow.

She said: “David has extended his stay to take part in Sunday’s festivities, who better to raise the profile of this wonderful fund than an international name and put it on the map.”

Cameron Mackintosh chairman of Logan’s Fund, said: “It’s a wonderful honour for David Gest to agree to come along and take part in the opening of our Fun Day’s fifth birthday.

“We are hoping as many people as possible come early for the opening ceremony at mid-day. It is always a highly emotional start to our day where we remember Logan and other children who have been lost but also celebrate the lives of some extremely brave children from our community.

“I’m sure Mr Gest will be humbled at being part of the opening ceremony with some incredible children by his side.”

Other activities include Lilian MacDonald performing Never Be Alone and an ice bucket challenge in the entertainment ring.
