World-beating Cullen Skink and tasty giveaways helped draw large crowds to the fourth annual City of Elgin Food and Drink Festival on Saturday.
Elgin’s Business Improvement District (Bid) group hosted the all-day event as part of Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight.
It featured more than 70 exhibitors, demonstrations and market stalls, offering hands-on cooking sessions, food and drink samplers, a countryside classroom, a museum treasure hunt quiz and various shop displays.
Hundreds of people enjoyed a taste of the best that Moray has to offer – including a display by current Cullen Skink World Champion, Tracy Fuller, who prepared her award-winning dish using locally landed fish from Lossie Fish Shop.
She said: “It was great to see such a positive reaction from the public.
“It gave me the encouragement I needed to go and defend my title at this year’s championships.”
Scribbles Pizza House owner Faith Houlding said: “It was really good.
“A lot of people said they didn’t know where we were and it was a really good opportunity to show our face to the public and show we are not just pizza.
“It was just a shame the rain came on when it did because we got soaked.”
Full-time mum, Samantha Munro, 38, said: “The festival was good. It was bigger than it was last year, and it seemed very busy.
“Even at 4.30pm there were still a lot of people about. I would come back again.”
Councillor John Divers said the Tasty Tours whisky and beer stands on South Street attracted a steady flow of people throughout the day.
He added: “Barring that brief spell of bad weather in the afternoon, it was a success as far as I could see.
“Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.”
Elgin Bid manager Gill Neil thanked everyone who attended, adding: “We hope you had a great day and enjoyed meeting the businesses.”
