The Burghead Boxing Day Swim committee is now taking requests from charities which would like to be considered for funding from this year’s event.
Applications have to be submitted by October 3 and should include all relevant information about the cause being nominated.
Organising committee member, Helen McLeod, is determined to build on the success of last December’s swim, which brought together 200 participants and raised more than £25,000 for three worthwhile causes.
She said: “Last year was an exceptional year for the swim.
“We would like to make this year another success, although it would be very difficult to top last year.”
The main charity to benefit last year was the Archie Foundation appeal for the children’s ward at Dr Gray’s hospital in Elgin.
Clan in Elgin and Maggie’s Cancer Care in Inverness, also received donations.
All requests should be sent to the secretary Mrs Helen Main, 23a Grant Street, Burghead, IV30 5UF, or e-mailed to helen.main@btinternet.com.
