An inspirational Moray woman has raised almost £30,000 towards her fight against Motor Neurone disease.

Lucy Lintott was studying business at college when she was diagnosed with the condition last November, at the age of just 19.

Her diagnosis has not deterred her however and she began putting a bucket list together, with one of her top priorities being to raise £100,000 to find a cure.

Her list of goals also includes meeting pop star Lily Allen and organising her 21st birthday.

The 20-year-old, from Garmouth, has since organised various activities to help her reach her goal.

She said: “I first set off to raise £2,000 and thought that was quite a hard target to meet. It’s hard to believe how much I’ve raised and it just doesn’t feel real.

“It’s humbling to see how the community have come together to donate.

“I want to keep on going and raising as much as I can, as it’s just natural instinct.”

In July, Miss Lintott challenged herself to walk the 65-miles of the Speyside Way, which she managed to do in just five days, despite her condition impacting on her ability to walk and keep her balance.

She said: “There were points along the way where I just wanted to give up and start crying, but one of my scouting friends, Pippa Cortis, motivated me to keep going.”

She recently entered the Mountain Warehouse charity challenge to promote her sponsored walk and managed to get into the top 10.

Members of the public can now vote for what they believe is the most deserving challenge, and the winner will receive £5,000 to donate to their chosen charity. To cast a vote in Miss Lintott’s favour, visit www.mountainwarehouse.com/charity/top10 before Tuesday.
