Whisky was not the most expensive luxury at Glenlivet distillery yesterday as 37 Ferraris gathered in convoy.
The German owners are part of the Official Ferraris Owner Club and are on their autumn tour visiting Scotland.
For some it may be a vision to see so many Ferraris at once but one that particularly stood out was wrapped in gold and had prancing horses decorated on it.
The owners spent two nights at the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness, where they travelled around Culloden and yesterday they travelled over the Lecht to Braemar and down to Falkirk.
Martina Kehm, from Frankfurt, who is driving a 1993 Ferrari Mondial, said: “We started the trip one week ago and left from Amsterdam. We’ve had a wonderful time and enjoyed it. This is my first visit to Scotland and the people have been so friendly.
“The weather has been very kind and we have had the roof open all the time.”
During their week long visit the German owners met up with members from the Scottish Ferrari Club at Crieff Hydro.
They will spend this evening at Cragside House, Northumberland, and tomorrow catch the ferry back to Amsterdam.
Mike Kirk, event organiser and owner of Classic Car Tours, said: “The tour has gone very well we have had 37 cars from Germany which makes quite a site. We have had two 1970s Ferraris but the rest are modern.”
He added: “Most of the roads have been quite smooth but we went over the Pass of the Cattle yesterday in Wester Ross and the road is very narrow and bumpy in places. The visitors were wowed by the scenery which compensated for the fact that they had to drive at 30mph.”
He said: “Myself and a friend have been driving in a BMW and go ahead to arrange distillery visits. We’ve also had a sweeper car in case of any punctures.”
