A former Moray head teacher has been appointed as corporate director of education and social care with Moray Council.
Laurence Findlay, 40, was born in Fraserburgh and studied languages at Stirling University where he also completed his teacher training.
His first teaching post was at Stewart’s Melville College in Edinburgh before he returned to his old school, Fraserburgh Academy, where he had a spell as acting principal teacher of guidance.
He moved to Moray in 2003 as principal teacher of modern studies at Keith Grammar School where he became depute head before being appointed head teacher at Forres Academy in 2008.
In 2012 he was appointed Moray Council’s head of schools and curriculum development.
Mr Findlay said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed to the post of corporate director at such an exciting time in the development of education and social care services locally and nationally and I look forward to working with all our services across Moray to ensure continuous improvement.”
Mr Findlay has held the position on an acting basis since August when his predecessor Sandy Riddell, left to take up a position with Fife Council.
