Four men have been charged in connection with a disturbance in Elgin at the weekend.
One man was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in the town after the alleged incident, which happened in the New Elgin Road area on Saturday night. His condition is not life-threatening.
It is understood locally that an argument broke out between two rival gangs and a knife was involved in the incident.
Four men, aged 19, 21, 44 and 45 are expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today.
Graham Leadbitter, SNP councillor for Elgin City South, said: “Any incident like this will be a cause of concern in the community where there appears to be a large group of people involved.”
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland is making inquiries into the circumstances surrounding a disturbance which occurred in the New Elgin Road area of Elgin, during the evening of Saturday, October 18.
“The incident resulted in a male being conveyed to Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment to an injury sustained during the disturbance. The injury is assessed to be non-life threatening.
“Police Scotland are appealing to members of the public, who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed anything in relation to this incident to contact 101.”
