A Moray graduate has taken the first step towards a career as a personal trainer after receiving an HND in Fitness, Health and Exercise from North East Scotland College.
Alistair Duggie, from Findhorn, has always had a keen interest in sport so pursuing a career in fitness was a natural choice.
The 20-year-old spent the first year of his course staying with a family friend in Inverurie, before commuting from his hometown during his second year so he could continue working.
Mr Duggie celebrated with his family yesterday, and now plans to continue training to he can specialise as a personal trainer in the field of diabetes and obesity.
He said: “I felt like I graduated when I finished college and got the certificate through the door but this is extra special being here with my family to celebrate.
“At the moment I’m doing an advanced diploma in personal training, I just finished two of my exams down in Glasgow on Saturday, so I’m already halfway through the level three.
“This is only just the start of it for me – there’s a long way to go, a couple of years worth of work, but once I get that it’ll hopefully be my break into the industry and we’ll see where I go from there.”
