A north-east cancer charity is appealing for volunteers in Moray after extending its opening hours.
Clan Cancer Support opened a permanent drop-in centre on Elgin’s High Street last year, offering a range of help and complementary therapies four days a week.
From next week, the service will also be open on Fridays between 10am and 4pm — increasing the number of reflexology and massage appointments available.
Tracy Sellar, Clan’s Moray services co-ordinator, said: “We’ve seen fantastic uptake of our various services in the town throughout the past year and we’re delighted to now be in the position of having our drop-in centre on Elgin’s High Street operational five days a week.”
In tandem with the increase in hours, the charity is also looking to widen its pool of volunteers in Moray.
More drivers are also needed to help transport clients from Elgin to hospitals in Inverness and Aberdeen.
Jane Adams, Clan’s volunteer co-ordinator, said: “Clan’s team of volunteers is incredibly important to the charity, and you don’t need to be an expert in support volunteering.
“Full training will be given, and we’re always here to help you on every step of the way.”
Anyone interested in getting involved is asked to register an interest before November 7, by calling Jane Adams on 01224 647000. Visit www.clanhouse.org for more details.
