A driver has been airlifted to hospital following a crash between a lorry and a car near Lossiemouth.
The collision happened near Lossiemouth forest car park on the B9103 Lossiemouth to Lhanbryde road shortly after 4pm.
Firefighters, police and paramedics raced to the scene following reports of a serious crash around 4.30pm.
The driver of the car has since been airlifted to hospital. Their condition is unknown.
The road remains closed in both directions as investigations are carried out.
Motorists are being encouraged to find an alternative route.
A police spokeswoman says inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
She said: “Police are in attendance at a serious crash involving a car and a lorry between the B9103 Lossiemouth to Lhanbryde road.
“The crash was reported to police around 4.30pm. The road is currently closed.
“The driver of the car was airlifted to hospital. Inquiries are ongoing.”
Three fire appliances attended the scene.
Crews from Lossiemouth and Elgin attended alongside the heavy rescue unit from Inverness.
Teams used hydraulic cutting gear, small gear and chocks and blocks to assist with the rescue effort.
Firefighters left the scene around 5.54pm.
