A Moray pensioner has been left shaken after a cruel thief crept into his home and threatened him with a gun before making off with more than £200.
Robert Henderson was alone at his house in Buckie’s Linn Crescent when the man broke in and demanded his wallet.
The terrified 79-year-old handed it over as the thug stood behind him and instructed him not to turn around or he would shoot him.
Last night Mr Henderson urged anyone with information to go to the police.
“I’m very disappointed this has happened,” he said.
“Whoever did it must live locally, or even on this street because after he did it he ran away and jumped over the dyke about five houses up.
“I had £200 in my wallet, and he came in, went into my back pocket, took my wallet, and said, ‘If you turn around, I’ll shoot you,’ .
“He must have had a gun, I don’t know? But the police are investigating it, and, hopefully, they will find out who did this.”
The incident happened around 7.25am on Saturday.
The thief is believed to have escaped through the back gardens of Linn Crescent, heading in the direction of Linn Avenue.
Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information.
A spokesman said: “Police Scotland are appealing for information following a robbery that occurred in a residence on Linn Crescent, Buckie, at around 7:25am on Sunday, December 7.
“A man stole a wallet, containing a low three figure sum, from a 79-year-old man.
“The suspect is described as being tall with a thin build. He spoke with a local accent and is believed to have been wearing blue jeans and a light coloured top.”
One neighbour said the crime had horrified residents.
“It’s absolutely shocking to hear this has happened,” she said.
“It’s terrible to think an old man would get attacked like that. It’s a good job I wasn’t there because I would have given them a right good wallop.”
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
