Health bosses are taking steps to fill a number of posts at Moray’s flagship hospital.
The recruitment team at NHS Grampian is said to be working “extremely hard” to fill vacancies at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin.
Posts currently being advertised on the health board’s website range from a maintenance assistant right through to a consultant physician.
Other vacancies include an occupational therapist, a bank midwife, a paediatric occupational therapist, an occupational therapy support worker, an information and communications assistant and a locum consultant anaesthetist.
Yesterday, an NHS Grampian spokeswoman said: “We have a dedicated recruitment team who work extremely hard to fill vacancies throughout the organisation.
“Jobs are advertised on our website, local press, professional journals and social media as appropriate.
“We also attend careers fairs across Grampian, Scotland and the UK.
“In Moray specifically, we have taken part in careers events in Elgin and work closely with our colleagues in further and higher education in the area.”
Yesterday MSP Richard Lochhead welcomed the news, saying: “I am very pleased the new management regime at NHS Grampian is to bring some additional urgency to the recruitment of new staff at Dr Gray’s
“It is very clear that while the hospital continues to deliver first class healthcare across a range of specialties, that there are various pressure points and staff are working flat out to serve patients.”
During recent talks with the Scottish Government’s new health secretary Shona Robison, Mr Lochhead said patients and health workers in Moray should not be overshadowed by high-profile difficulties facing NHS Grampian at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
His comments came in wake of a damning report published by Healthcare Improvement Scotland last month, which warned that patient care and safety at ARI could be compromised by issues including weak leadership, low morale and poor relations between consultants and executives.
The shock departure of its chairman and chief executive have also rocked the troubled board.
Mr Lochhead said he hoped that although Elgin was 70 miles away from Foresterhill, it would remain a priority for the new management regime at NHS Grampian.
