Crowds of people have packed Cooper Park in Elgin to celebrate the return of live events.
Rotafest 22 took place at Cooper Park in Elgin this weekend.
The free community event is one of the first of its kind to be held in the Moray town after the Covid pandemic.
Hundreds of festivalgoers turned out to bask in the warm weather and enjoy the festivities of the summer family event, organised by Elgin Rotary Club.
Activities and events for all ages were featured across the park on Saturday alongside a host of charity stalls and hospitality venders.
Festivities drew to a close on Sunday following the return of the club’s Show ‘N’ Shine car show.
Jubilee concert audience member becomes unexpected star of show
Rotafest 22 coincided with the nations celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
A host of events have been held across the Highlands and Grampian in recent days to mark the Monarch’s 70 year reign.
A Platinum park party was held by organisers of the festival on Saturday to mark the signature occasion.
However, their evening event almost fell flat after their entertainer for the evening fell ill.
Luckily, Dave Massam, an undertaker from Parbold in Lancashire, offered to take the stage and put on an impromptu performance.
The 33-year-old, who is currently on a week-long holiday in Lossiemouth, has sung since he was young and has carried it on as a hobby.
Mr Massam also lends his voice to his role in the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.
Based at RAF Cranwell in their music service, he performs at the corps VIP events.
Speaking of his performance at Rotafest 22, he said it was simply “another day doing a bit of charity work.”
He said: “I was at the Platinum Jubilee screen showing the Rotary were doing in the park in the marquee and the singer they had booked unfortunately was unwell.
“The announcer said this at the beginning, saying unfortunately we have got no entertainment now so I just put my hand up and said ‘Well, I can sing. Do you want me to do it?’
“They had the right leads and things so I just plugged my phone in and sang about five songs to get people warmed up and ready for the concert.”
He added: “Its been a rather unexpected pleasure and honour to be able to help. Thank you for the hospitality and the warm welcome I received.
“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of a jubilee celebration.”
