Welcome to our regular look at the latest planning applications lodged with and decided by Moray Council.
This week, Dr Gray’s Hospital has revealed plans for a new oxygen storage tank in the grounds.
A farm near Ballindalloch is looking to build four eco cabins to take advantage of being in the tourist hotspot that is the Cairngorms National Park.
A temporary site office and seasonal staff accommodation is being proposed at Maryfield Farm near Elgin.
Planners have also approved the refurbishment of a worn bridge over the A941.
Eco cabins proposed near farm
At Dell Farm near Ballindalloch, eco cabins are being proposed.
Lanpro Services is representing Paul Cannavan in the planning application for the cabins on grassland.
The farm is within the Cairngorms National Park and the International Dark Skies zone. The owners also think it is in a good spot for fans of whisky and walking – and both.
The eco-cabins will be constructed using timber cladding and look a lot like this, if everything goes to plan:
In a planning statement, Paul Cannavan said: “The purpose of the eco-cabins is for tourism use benefitting from its location within the Caingorms National Park.
“The site is located within an international dark skies site often visited by astronomers and star gazers, as well as there being whisky distilleries close to the site and hiking opportunities.”
Here is the proposed layout of the cabins.
Oxygen storage tank for Dr Gray’s
An application has been submitted to build a new large oxygen storage tank at Dr Gray’s Hospital.
It is proposed the tank to replace the existing one to increase their oxygen storage capacity on site to meet future needs and demands.
The new oxygen tank will sit within a fenced compound to the south west of the hospital.
Arch Henderson is representing NHS Grampian in the application.
In a planning statement, they said: “The overall impact of the change will be minimal to the surrounding residential streets.
“It will sit in the same location as the existing within the compound. The tank will be white and may also have similar annotation as the existing tank.”
Temporary site office proposed at farm
This land was previously farmland.
Last week the extension of an existing grain store and creation of a farm office were approved.
The planning application has been submitted by John Wink Design on behalf of CHR Russell.
In the past week, Moray Council has also determined some applications.
Biomass housing approved
At the Altyre Estate, a treatment plant building will be transformed into biomass housing.
This type of housing is heated and/or powered sustainably.
This comes after an application submitted by Altype Plans on behalf of Altyre Estate was given the green light.
The change of use will take place at the Wardend Yard on the estate near Forres and home to Clan Cumming.
Bridge repairs approved
Works to refurbish and repair a worn bridge will take place.
Blackwater Bridge is a Category C Listed masonry arch bridge, carrying the A941 Dufftown to Rhynie Road over the Black Water.
The work will strengthen it and remove inappropriate previous repairs.
The wear of the bridge has been caused by traffic overloading and collisions.
This work will protect the bridge for both future use, and protect its heritage for enjoyment of future generations.
Moray Council officials had submitted the application.
Office extension in Elgin
Plans for an office extension at 1 Pinefield Parade in Elgin have been approved.
The planning application was submitted by Tulloch Of Cummingston on behalf of Pinefield Glass.
Further planning applications can be viewed using Moray Council’s portal.
