An outdoor educational charity has become the first organisation in Moray to receive funding from the Legacy 2014 Sustainable Sport for Communities Fund.
The £1million pot supports aspiring and existing social enterprises promoting sport and physical activity across Scotland.
Outfit Moray has received £21,500 for the development of an outdoor learning and adventure facility and a residential activity centre.
The Lossiemouth-based charity is run by a team of outdoor adventure experts.
Outfit Moray chief executive Ian Rideout said: “We are really pleased to have been awarded this funding, which will bring our strategic objective of creating a unique outdoor learning and adventure facility a step closer.
“It will also enable us to build on our previous success in making a life-changing difference to the lives of young people, their families and communities throughout Moray”.
Created with investment from the Scottish Government and The Robertson Trust, the legacy fund is also overseen by charity Social Investment Scotland, Senscot and government agency Sportscotland.
Alastair Davis, chief executive of Social Investment Scotland, said: “We are delighted Outfit Moray has been successful with its funding application and look forward to working with the team in future.
“We know that sport can and does make an incredible contribution to society, building social cohesion, improving public health and encouraging people to become involved in their communities. So the funding received by all beneficiaries has the potential to make a massive difference to the lives of people who live in these communities.”
A further round of funding will be available by the end of this month.
