This fascinating time-lapse footage shows the painstaking process involved in moving a historic fishing vessel from the berth it had occupied at Burghead Harbour since the 1980s.
The dilapidated Harvest Reaper looked destined for the scrapheap after Moray Council this month ordered it be relocated or they would demolish it to allow for the building of a new £250,000 harbour-front development.
However, as the community’s hopes for the vessel were sinking, local plumber Jimmy Wiseman pledged to save it and last night a crane from Macduff Shipyards helped hoist it from its quayside site to a temporary new home along the harbour’s south pier.
The Burghead Headland Trust will now meet to discuss a permanent location for the Reaper, which will be preserved as a part of the village’s fishing heritage.
