An Oasis fan from Rothes said he has yet to come down from “cloud nine” after meeting his idol at the weekend.
Calum Smith, 27, said he bought his first Oasis album as a six-year-old during the height of the band’s Britpop fame.
He waited in the shivering cold for hours on Sunday for the chance to meet Noel Gallagher.
The star was staying at the Craigellachie Hotel with fellow household names including model Kate Moss and Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw.
Though he had heard rumours of a celebrity gathering at the Craigellachie, it was only when driving by the venue on Sunday and noticing a crowd that Mr Smith became aware of the close proximity of his favourite musician.
Mr Smith said: “When I spoke to a photographer and he told me Noel Gallagher was in there I couldn’t believe it.
“Luckily I had my new Definitely Maybe re-mastered CD in the car, so I quickly grabbed that then stood waiting outside like a numpty for hours.
“Oasis are without a doubt my favourite band, I don’t listen to anything else.”
Mr Smith’s patience paid off when the singer stepped out to pose for photographs and sign autographs for fans.
He said: “I’ve not quite come down from cloud nine yet.
“Meeting Noel is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, but meeting him three miles outside of Rothes is even more special.”
Mr Smith, who works as a labourer with Forsyths of Rothes, has been to see the band perform in Aberdeen and at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
Among his friends, some of whom have travelled abroad to see the rockers, Mr Smith is now a target of envy.
He said: “Some of my mates are far more serious fans than I am; one of them is actually not speaking to me at the moment because I got to meet Noel.”
When asked about the chances of the star returning to Moray, Mr Smith said: “Somebody did ask Noel if he would be back, and he smiled, so I think that’s a good sign – it would be my dream come true if he played a show here.”
