He won the hearts of television viewers across the UK and now Great British Bake Off star Norman Calder is hoping to win the votes of residents in his home town after announcing he plans to stand in a forthcoming by-election.
Mr Calder, from Buckie, rose to fame with his unfussy approach on the BBC show, and since then has become something of a local hero.
The 66-year-old star recently tweeted: “My nomination papers submitted to Moray Council today. I am standing as independent candidate for the forthcoming by-election 26 Mar.”
