A leading north-east cancer charity is to pilot a support and information service in Lossiemouth.
Clan Cancer Support will provide the service every Thursday from the town’s Moray Coast Medical Practice, offering free advice and help to anyone affected by the disease.
The service, which will launch on March 5, will run for three months initially. It will be on offer from 1pm-4pm.
As well as offering assistance to cancer sufferers, Clan will use the sessions to gauge interest in establishing a permanent presence in the town.
The charity already has a centre in Elgin, which was set up in 2013, which offers complementary therapies, activities, a monthly men’s group and children and family support services.
Tracy Sellar, the charity’s Moray area co-ordinator, said: “Due to demand, we are looking to expand our offering across the region. The support we’ve had from people in the area really has been fantastic.
“We’re looking forward to working with the team at Moray Coast Medical Practice throughout the next three months.
“The first session in March will double up as an open day for anyone affected by cancer, and we’re encouraging those interested in hearing how Clan may be able to help them and their loved ones to head along on the day.”
Alison Frankland, Moray Coast Medical Practice manager, added: “The practice is happy to provide a local base for Clan, giving easy access to this excellent service for the residents of Lossiemouth and the surrounding area.”
Based in Aberdeen, Clan covers the whole of north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
