Aberdeenshire animal expert Becky Rowe will be bringing her Animates stable to Lhanbryde’s Playbarn tomorrow. Her companions will include snakes, scorpions, a tortoise, a bearded dragon and numerous creepy crawlies. However, among her favourites are Epi the Brazillian rainbow boa and Albino hedgehog Rix. Ms Rowe, a science ambassador, uses the creatures to get youngsters interested in learning. She explained: “The animals help make subjects like science more interesting and relatable to children. “We talk to kids about endangered species and help them understand more about the natural world, but it’s great fun as well. “Adults get as much out of it as kids too.” Youngsters will be able to hold and pet some of the animals on display during the interactive sessions. Ms Rowe will host monthly Saturday sessions at the Playbarn until later in the year. Tomorrow’s event will begin at noon and end at 4pm.
