Fraser Cormack is usually working offshore during Halloween – but this year he was able to treat his children to an unforgettable display.
The 42-year-old Fochabers dad spent a fortnight decorating the family home in Mosstodloch in preparation for Halloween.
‘Haven’t been home for Halloween in five years’
Mr Cormack decided that after missing Halloween for five years to make this year a special one for his daughters Erin, 12, and Charleigh, nine.
He explained: “I work offshore, and I haven’t been home for Halloween or Christmas for about five years, so this year I decided I was going to do something special.
“It’s escalated into something bigger than I expected, the children absolutely love it with the attention they’re getting from friends, there’s always kids running about here.
“Their friends are coming tonight, and we’ve also got entertainment coming, the Hocus Pocus witches, so they’re really excited.”
In the lead-up to the big night, Mr Cormack has been flooded with compliments by those who have seen the display.
“There’s been a lot of people visiting saying, ‘it’s amazing, it’s one of the best we’ve seen in the area’ it’s been good to get that kind of recognition because it’s been a lot of work.”
Promise of ‘epic day trying to get everything dismantled’
As soon as the party finishes, Mr Cormack will spend the rest of his time home taking down decorations as he’s returning offshore on November 1.
“I have to go back tomorrow night, so tomorrow is going to be an epic day trying to get everything dismantled.
“Demolition seems to work quicker than building, so hopefully it’ll be quick enough, I’ll get it done,” he added.
Those who come to view Mr Cormack’s Halloween display can also place money into their donation box outside with profits going towards Moray Food Plus.
This organisation provides a range of services to those experiencing or at risk of food poverty.
In August, Moray foodbank recorded a 110% increase in users. As energy prices are on the up, many people are looking for cheap ways to eat.
