The family of a Buckie pensioner who went missing nearly a year ago have launched a new appeal for information.
Ian Bramald was last seen on February 26 last year, near his home in the Archibald Court and Barhill Road area.
The 73-year-old, originally from Sheffield, suffered from dementia.
Now his son Jim has teamed up with the police to make a desperate appeal for information so his family can get some answers about what may have happened.
Mr Bramald jun, of Udny Green, Ellon, said: “This appeal is just to jog people’s memories.
“There are dog walkers and hikers out in that area to the south of Buckie who may find an article of clothing or some glasses.
“Normally they may just set it to one side but we’re asking people to pick it up and make a note of where they found it.
“Anything like that might lead to a clue, and we may eventually be able to find him.
“It has been a long year and we’re just trying to bring him back home one way or another.
“It’s a horrible word to use but we’re trying to get some closure I suppose.”
People in the Buckie area are being urged to report to police any items they discover which seem like they could have belonged to the missing pensioner.
Mr Bramald is described as being between 5ft 10in and 5ft 11in, with receding dark hair.
When he was last seen he was wearing a short green waterproof jacket, blue cord trousers, a cap, multi-coloured scarf and glasses.
Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson, who is leading the inquiry, urged anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “I would ask that people in the area remind themselves of the description of Mr Bramald and keep an eye out for any clothing or belongings found which may be his.”
A massive search involving a police helicopter, Buckie lifeboat, dogs from Search and Rescue Dogs Association Scotland (SARDA) and RAF Lossiemouth’s search and rescue team was launched after Mr Bramald disappeared.
His son – who ran 36-and-a-half miles along the Speyside Way to raise money for SARDA last summer – said: “All the people in the community were so kind, it was really touching to see the efforts everyone made to try and find my dad.”
Anyone with information, or who comes across an item they believe could be Mr Bramald’s, should call 101.
